Blurring boundaries between
art, architecture and design
About
Lambert Kamps, born in 1974, is an artist and designer. He studied fashion and design, autonomous architecture, and spatial art at the Minerva Academy in Groningen. His work exists at the intersection of these disciplines and is often displayed in public spaces, galleries, fairs, events, and happenings.
Inspiration
While studying fashion and design, Kamps developed a keen interest in fabrics and the techniques used to produce and process them. His time at the art academy expanded his perspective, integrating considerations of people, architecture, functionality, and innovative applications of materials and techniques into his work. Society, in all its facets, has become his most significant source of inspiration and continues to be so.
Playful
In 1999, Kamps established his studio as an independent artist and designer. There, he undertakes both commissioned projects and self-initiated experimental works across the realms of art, design, and architecture. These disciplines are interrelated in his practice; a piece of art can also serve as architecture or clothing, depending on the perspective. His work is characterized by a playful and cheerful aesthetic while simultaneously provoking thoughtful reflections on the world and our society.
